Islet Group grows with SAP Busi­ness ByDe­sign as its future-proof platform

Islet Group is an inter­na­tion­al­ly oper­at­ing Finnish fam­i­ly-owned growth com­pa­ny pro­vid­ing pro­fes­sion­al ser­vices & IT solu­tions for mul­ti­ple dif­fer­ent indus­tries. Islet is spe­cial­ized in two busi­ness areas: data & ana­lyt­ics, and busi­ness trans­for­ma­tions, which cov­ers end-to-end enter­prise resource plan­ning process­es and intel­li­gent spend man­age­ment. The com­pa­ny is SAP and Microsoft’s gold part­ner and has been cho­sen twice as the Best SAP Part­ner in Fin­land in the recent years. Islet works dai­ly with lead­ing tech­nolo­gies and helps its cus­tomers to dig­i­tal­ize and trans­form their busi­ness­es as well as to lead with real-time data.

Islet, which was found­ed at the end of the 1990’s, has been grow­ing at a rapid pace for sev­er­al past years. Islet dis­cov­ered that their own busi­ness needs now and in the future are aligned with SAP Busi­ness ByDe­sign solu­tion capa­bil­i­ties. The cloud-based solu­tion is known for its great project man­age­ment capa­bil­i­ties, which is crit­i­cal for Islet as a pro­fes­sion­al ser­vices com­pa­ny. SAP Busi­ness ByDe­sign is a suite-in-a-box solu­tion, which is quick to imple­ment, sup­ports mul­ti-com­pa­ny sce­nar­ios and inter­na­tion­al­iza­tion, is always up-to-date and has vast inte­gra­tion pos­si­bil­i­ties. Most impor­tant­ly, Islet knew that the solu­tion would sup­port their growth plan and pro­vide real-time data and one source of truth to help steer the com­pa­ny sus­tain­ably into the future. Islet uti­lized its own team and exper­tise in the imple­men­ta­tion of the new ERP.

With SAP Busi­ness ByDe­sign, Islet was able to dig­i­tal­ize and stan­dard­ize the Finance, Project Man­age­ment, Pro­cure­ment, Sales, CRM, HR, Time and Resource Man­age­ment process­es. Solution’s embed­ded ana­lyt­ics pro­vides the most essen­tial oper­a­tional reports in a visu­al form with­in the ERP sys­tem itself. It also has sev­er­al ready-made KPI’s which give key insights from the busi­ness. Addi­tion­al­ly, in cer­tain report­ing pur­pos­es the data from the ERP is being visu­al­ized with Microsoft Pow­er BI.

The intro­duc­tion of SAP Busi­ness ByDe­sign has stream­lined and sim­pli­fied many of Islet’s inter­nal and cus­tomer relat­ed process­es. Islet is now able to bet­ter man­age its cus­tomer projects all in one place instead of hav­ing it spread out in dif­fer­ent spread sheets, emails, and appli­ca­tions. This has great­ly improved many aspects of every­day work, such as the avail­abil­i­ty of accu­rate and up-to-date data, man­ag­ing project relat­ed costs, resourc­ing, and plan­ning. In fact, Islet can now mon­i­tor the progress of projects and the invoic­ing sta­tus eas­i­ly on a real-time basis and employ­ee sat­is­fac­tion relat­ed to inter­nal process­es has increased. There is also a clear ben­e­fit to man­ag­ing every­thing in one inte­grat­ed sys­tem – dif­fer­ent process­es are linked togeth­er, which means the updat­ed info is avail­able to all areas simultaneously.

As we con­tin­ue to grow rapid­ly, we need­ed scal­able future-proof solu­tion that is always up-to-date and easy-to-use. We have gained more real-time vis­i­bil­i­ty into our oper­a­tions and stream­lined our process­es with SAP Busi­ness ByDe­sign. We are also able to pro­vide bet­ter ser­vice both to our own employ­ees as well as our cus­tomers. More­over, we now have real – time data to sup­port deci­sion mak­ing – both in dai­ly oper­a­tions and on a strate­gic level.

One oth­er aspect that might some­times be over­looked or for­got­ten, but what is still great­ly impor­tant, is the user expe­ri­ence. It affects the change man­age­ment and the sys­tem adop­tion and there­fore also has a direct impact on the over­all suc­cess of the project and imple­men­ta­tion. As Islet has kept grow­ing fast and new employ­ees come in every month, the com­pa­ny need­ed their ERP sys­tem to be easy to adopt and sim­ple to use with clear nav­i­ga­tion and logic.
The SAP Busi­ness ByDe­sign solu­tion has a mod­ern and har­mo­nized look and feel. It is easy to per­son­al­ize, for exam­ple, with role-based short cuts and dash­boards. We have received a lot of pos­i­tive feed­back and I feel like we are able to bet­ter serve our employ­ees. The dif­fer­ent areas of the solu­tion are designed so that the user expe­ri­ence is con­sis­tent and intu­itive. This has reduced time spent on dif­fer­ent tasks mak­ing dai­ly work eas­i­er and more efficient.
