Säästöpankkiryhmä (Savings Bank Group) is breaking down old structures and in recent years has switched to transparent reporting and analytics that genuinely support its business. Islet’s experts are constantly working with businesses to define a uniform, knowledge-based management model, and implementing suitable solutions, one of the keys being a comprehensive Power BI reporting environment. Thanks to the solution, the entire Savings Banks Group and its more than 1,400 employees will have visibility into data and key figures – raising the speed of decision-making to a whole new level.

Baseline

Just a few years ago, Savings Bank’s reporting was based on fragmented systems and processes that were difficult to manage. The data lacked transparency, and the bank did not have direct access to critical information or its calculation bases. Reporting was limited, and the information was updated too rarely. The necessary data extraction had to be ordered manually, the documentation was incomplete and the different units received conflicting information. This situation significantly slowed down decision-making and made it difficult to utilize more extensive analytics.

The Savings Bank’s goal was to genuinely take control of data and ensure that every employee can utilise reliable information in their own work. The common vision is to build a strong foundation for future knowledge-based management, where data is an active partner in the business, not just a passive object of reporting.

Solution

Islet works in continuous cooperation to define business needs and goals together with Savings Bank’s key personnel. The cooperation has continued for several years, during which solutions have been built in stages for different areas of business. Investments in change management are made all the time: active communication channels in Teams, practical video recordings and separately appointed “data couriers”, operating in bank branches, are used.

From a technical point of view, Islet has implemented a comprehensive reporting and analysis environment that includes more than a hundred semantic models, clear visual views, and advanced row-level security (RLS). In addition, the management model, development practices, operating methods and publishing processes of the Power BI environment are an essential part, guaranteeing continuous quality. The solution leverages data from the Snowflake-based data platform, which provides reliable and consistent data for all data needs.

Benefits

Thanks to the solution, Savings Bank has achieved, among other things, even better customer understanding: combined and high-quality data improves customer understanding and enables more efficient knowledge-based management. For customers, this is reflected in improved and more personal service, as the bank’s employees now have an up-to-date and comprehensive understanding of customer needs and situation. This helps provide customers with truly tailored solutions and speeds up transactions.

Decision-making has become significantly faster, as up-to-date data is available at all times, shortening the control cycle of sales and customer service from weeks to hours.

A strong and scalable foundation for the future has been created: the same knowledge base supports business reporting, predictive analytics and AI-based solutions.

We now have the data in our own hands, and the ability to make data-driven decisions every day. Islet’s team has been an excellent partner from specification to implementation — I can warmly recommend Islet as a partner to other organizations as well.

Next steps

The world of knowledge-based management is never complete, and our close cooperation continues. New solutions are constantly being implemented for business needs. The goal is to further strengthen the customer understanding and the role of predictive analytics, and provide customers with tailored services.

It has been a pleasure to walk alongside Savings Bank and see how data is translated into concrete decisions, positively reflected in the everyday life of every branch. When business, data and technology meet at the right moment, the results are visible in everyday life.
