Sik­la surfs the dig­i­tal wave with SAP Busi­ness ByDesign

Sik­la, “builder of the future”, select­ed cloud-based SAP Busi­ness ByDe­sign tech­nol­o­gy as its new ERP solu­tion and ISLET Group as part­ner for imple­men­ta­tion. The project was launched in Jan­u­ary and was car­ried out entire­ly remote­ly due to the Covid sit­u­a­tion. The coop­er­a­tion between Sik­la and Islet went smooth­ly and the solu­tion went live on 1 June 2020.

The con­struc­tion com­pa­ny Sik­la Group designs and builds cor­po­rate homes, nurs­ing homes, kinder­gartens, schools and busi­ness premis­es. The mis­sion of the Group is to pro­duce bet­ter user expe­ri­ences, and the users of the facil­i­ties are at the core of the com­pa­ny’s oper­a­tions. The Group had grown so rapid­ly in recent years that its sys­tems no longer sup­port­ed oper­a­tions and couldn’t keep pace with growth. To sup­port future growth, Sik­la launched a Sus­tain­able Growth project in 2019 with the goal of a large dig­i­tal leap to stream­line busi­ness operations.

Out of the sev­er­al options com­pared, Sik­la select­ed cloud-based SAP Busi­ness ByDe­sign tech­nol­o­gy because they want­ed a com­pre­hen­sive, mod­ern, user-friend­ly and well-inte­grat­ed ERP solu­tion. The breadth of SAP Busi­ness ByDe­sign as an ERP solu­tion was impor­tant. Sik­la and Islet brought togeth­er the process­es of HR, finance, pro­cure­ment, sales, pro­duc­tion and project busi­ness in SAP Busi­ness ByDe­sign. The goal was to keep as much infor­ma­tion as pos­si­ble in one place so that the infor­ma­tion is vis­i­ble and acces­si­ble so that it tru­ly serves the business.

Sik­la’s own IT depart­ment is very small, con­sist­ing only of two peo­ple, so an expe­ri­enced and com­pe­tent part­ner was impor­tant to suc­ceed in the project. In addi­tion, both Sik­la and Islet teams built around the busi­ness areas took the project for­ward with deter­mi­na­tion and effi­cien­cy, despite work­ing remotely.
