Trans­meri and Islet have com­plet­ed togeth­er a suc­cess­ful trans­for­ma­tion project to SAP S/4HANA on Azure. The project was deliv­ered in time and on bud­get, and Trans­meri gained sev­er­al busi­ness ben­e­fits from the transformation. 

Trans­meri’s vision was to cre­ate one dig­i­tal plat­form for a group-wide ERP sys­tem which would sup­port the com­pa­ny in their long-term busi­ness objec­tives. The com­pa­ny want­ed to dig­i­tal­ly trans­form using an intel­li­gent infra­struc­ture for ERP host­ed in the cloud. Trans­for­ma­tion project goals were achieved thanks to the seam­less coop­er­a­tion between the Trans­meri and Islet teams.

SAP S/4HANA pro­vides a mod­ern dig­i­tal plat­form which helps us to inno­vate and flex­i­bly sup­port the chang­ing needs of our dif­fer­ent busi­ness­es. It is also per­fect­ly aligned with our strat­e­gy and sus­tain­abil­i­ty goals, as well as it enables us to increase dig­i­tal­iza­tion, expand geo­graph­i­cal­ly, and cre­ate synergies.

Trans­meri Group con­vert­ed to SAP S/4HANA on Microsoft Azure with brown­field approach in a smooth 9‑month project. Trans­meri and Islet start­ed the prepa­ra­tions for Trans­meri Group’s trans­for­ma­tion project in 2019. Main parts of the S/4HANA trans­for­ma­tion were S/4HANA Assess­ment, S/4HANA proof-of-con­cept project, Uni­code con­ver­sion, SAP ERP on Azure migra­tion, and S/4HANA con­ver­sion. Islet moved Transmeri’s exist­ing SAP ERP to Microsoft Azure plat­form and sub­se­quent­ly con­vert­ed it to SAP S/4HANA. Trans­meri has been dri­ving their oper­a­tions suc­cess­ful­ly in SAP S/4HANA on Azure since the begin­ning of year 2021.

Increased Effi­cien­cy and New Ser­vices for Cus­tomers and Employees

Transmeri’s goal is to uni­fy company’s exist­ing ERP land­scape, which has been frag­ment­ed by merg­ers and acqui­si­tions. The new sys­tem enabled Trans­meri for exam­ple to auto­mate inter­com­pa­ny billing and sales order process­es, speed up the finan­cial report­ing, and improve the accu­ra­cy of sales plan­ning. Oper­a­tional report­ing is improved now that Trans­meri no longer needs to com­bine mul­ti­ple reports in a spread­sheet to make calculations.

As a part of the trans­for­ma­tion, a secure, time and place inde­pen­dent, access to busi­ness-crit­i­cal solu­tions were offered for the employ­ees to enhance pro­duc­tiv­i­ty and employ­ee sat­is­fac­tion. Sin­gle sign-on with Microsoft Office 365 Mul­ti-Fac­tor Authen­ti­ca­tion was imple­ment­ed to both Fiori and SAP GUI user inter­faces. Addi­tion­al­ly, the employ­ee expe­ri­ence and over­all pro­duc­tiv­i­ty was fur­ther increased by build­ing eight cus­tom Fiori appli­ca­tions and acti­vat­ing 18 stan­dard Fiori appli­ca­tions for exam­ple in the logis­tics area.

Trans­mer­i’s Tai­ka is a Finnish nat­ur­al cos­met­ics series.

Focus on Excel­lent Cus­tomer Ser­vice with Har­mo­nized IT Sys­tems in the Cloud

Stream­lined process­es and sim­pli­fied IT land­scape help already alone to improve the cus­tomer expe­ri­ence. Addi­tion­al­ly, Trans­meri has launched a new Web shop inte­grat­ed with SAP S/4HANA, allow­ing cus­tomers to place orders direct­ly to the ware­house with no input from cus­tomer ser­vice which in turn speeds up the deliveries.

Trans­meri has also moved its logis­tics process­es to intu­itive SAP Fiori appli­ca­tions. Pre­vi­ous­ly, ware­house staff had to cre­ate deliv­er­ies and ware­house trans­fer orders and post goods issue man­u­al­ly. They now per­form these tasks auto­mat­i­cal­ly using the new user inter­face, which reduces pick­ing times and improves employ­ee experience.

With SAP S/4HANA, we can opti­mize and auto­mate our end-to-end process­es, make bet­ter deci­sions based on real-time data and pro­vide an intu­itive user inter­face – ulti­mate­ly to serve cus­tomers, employ­ees, and sup­pli­ers bet­ter in long-term.

Trans­meri is a great exam­ple of an orga­ni­za­tion that has under­stood the ben­e­fits and the neces­si­ty of dig­i­tal­iza­tion and mov­ing into cloud in order to sup­port their future growth and main­tain­ing their com­pet­i­tive advan­tage in the market.
