The Finnish Med­i­cines Agency Fimea intro­duced a work­ing time appli­ca­tion imple­ment­ed by Islet, which brings effi­cien­cy and ease to the work­ing day. The new time-log­ging appli­ca­tion has been built on the Microsoft Pow­er Apps plat­form, and its deploy­ment was smooth thanks to the excel­lent coop­er­a­tion between Fimea, KEHA and Islet. 

The orig­i­nal ver­sion of the work­ing time appli­ca­tion was devel­oped for the KEHA Cen­tre by Islet in coop­er­a­tion with Microsoft and as part of the renew­al of the dig­i­tal work envi­ron­ment, as described in the KEHA Cen­tre arti­cle. The appli­ca­tion was adapt­ed to Fimea’s needs in coop­er­a­tion with Islet’s experts, and the deploy­ment was excep­tion­al­ly fast.

Fimea became inter­est­ed in the work­ing time log­ging appli­ca­tion after hear­ing about the pos­i­tive expe­ri­ences of the KEHA Cen­tre, and quick­ly noticed that there was a need for a sim­i­lar solu­tion in its own organ­i­sa­tion. In good coop­er­a­tion with the KEHA Cen­tre, it was agreed to share the appli­ca­tion with Fimea, and the deploy­ment could be start­ed flex­i­bly. The app was first deployed to a lim­it­ed group of users in Decem­ber 2024, and the entire orga­ni­za­tion deployed it from the begin­ning of May 2025.

Thanks to the excel­lent Pow­er Apps skills of Islet’s experts, we were able to get the app up and run­ning in record time. With the help of Islet’s experts, we were also able to sig­nif­i­cant­ly improve Fimea’s Pow­er Plat­form man­age­ment mod­el. Our employ­ees have received the appli­ca­tion enthu­si­as­ti­cal­ly and the feed­back has been extreme­ly pos­i­tive – log­ging in work­ing hours is now much faster and easier.

With the appli­ca­tion, Fimea’s employ­ees can eas­i­ly and quick­ly log in their work­ing hours on dif­fer­ent devices – such as mobile devices or com­put­ers – which has improved both the smooth­ness of work and the qual­i­ty of infor­ma­tion. The ben­e­fits of the appli­ca­tion are also sig­nif­i­cant finan­cial­ly: Fimea esti­mates the val­ue of the annu­al sav­ings in work­ing hours to be more than 300,000€ when there are about 350 users. The source code of the appli­ca­tion was hand­ed over to Fimea, and the cost-effec­tive solu­tion enabled sig­nif­i­cant sav­ings and quick deployment.

Fimea’s project is a great exam­ple of how mod­ern, agile tools, such as Pow­er Apps, can gen­uine­ly improve the every­day life of an organ­i­sa­tion. We are hap­py to be involved in bring­ing con­crete added val­ue to Fimea – this is exact­ly what we want to do at Islet: help our cus­tomers suc­ceed in their dig­i­tal trans­for­ma­tion journey.

The coop­er­a­tion between Fimea and the KEHA Cen­tre and the intro­duc­tion of the appli­ca­tion also raised wider inter­est: the appli­ca­tion was pre­sent­ed in the Gov­ern­ment Mod­ern Work User Group (VMUG) in autumn 2024, and also raised inter­est in oth­er gov­ern­ment organisations.
