Lumene tran­si­tioned to SAP S/4HANA suc­cess­ful­ly with Islet

Lumene Group has a rich his­to­ry and strong know-how in using SAP ERP and the com­pa­ny has been Islet’s con­tin­u­ous ser­vices cus­tomer for over 13 years. Lumene’s jour­ney towards SAP S/4HANA was a sig­nif­i­cant mile­stone, demon­strat­ing a con­tin­ued com­mit­ment to tech­no­log­i­cal advance­ment and oper­a­tional efficiency.

Lumene’s tran­si­tion jour­ney began in 2020 when they moved their SAP serv­er envi­ron­ment into Microsoft Azure. By migrat­ing the SAP plat­form to cloud, Lumene achieved cost sav­ings and brought two impor­tant tech­no­log­i­cal ecosys­tems clos­er togeth­er, aim­ing for syn­er­gy ben­e­fits in the long term. After care­ful­ly com­plet­ing S/4HANA pre-assess­ment in 2022 and dili­gent prepa­ra­tions in 2023 with Islet, Lumene was ready for the SAP S/4HANA project in 2024. The project closed with a suc­cess­ful go-live in Octo­ber 2024.

More­over, Islet and Lumene Group pilot­ed Islet’s new­ly cre­at­ed Sus­tain­abil­i­ty Frame­work for Tech­nol­o­gy Projects in the project, which inte­grates sus­tain­abil­i­ty aspects to project and chal­lenges the project team to think how the project could con­tribute to over­all company’s sus­tain­abil­i­ty targets.

The tran­si­tion to SAP S/4HANA aims to improve Lumene’s per­for­mance, func­tion­al­i­ty, and user expe­ri­ence. Key changes include a sim­pli­fied data mod­el, which reduces com­plex­i­ty, speeds up pro­cess­ing, and improves real-time ana­lyt­ics. Anoth­er major improve­ment is the Busi­ness Part­ner con­cept, which uni­fies stake­hold­er man­age­ment into a sin­gle mas­ter record. This stream­lines inte­gra­tion and increas­es flex­i­bil­i­ty across the system.

The tran­si­tion allows Lumene to future-proof their oper­a­tions. The lat­est inno­va­tions are now enabled, and run­ning SAP S/4HANA on Azure allows for scal­a­bil­i­ty and oper­a­tional efficiency.

The project was exe­cut­ed smooth­ly and on sched­ule. Any chal­lenges were tack­led in close col­lab­o­ra­tion between Lumene and Islet with shared appre­ci­a­tion for a fast, result-ori­ent­ed and flex­i­ble approach. In addi­tion to being on sched­ule, the goal of zero busi­ness day inter­rup­tions was also achieved. That required com­pre­hen­sive test­ing as well as metic­u­lous plan­ning and sched­ul­ing by Islet for the con­ver­sion weekend.

Now, with the tran­si­tion suc­cess­ful­ly com­plet­ed, sys­tem devel­op­ments at Lumene are in full swing. They have already seen ben­e­fits from the sys­tem tran­si­tion, and the cur­rent archi­tec­ture sets a secure foun­da­tion for new devel­op­ments and inno­va­tions. Lumene con­tin­ues to enjoy unin­ter­rupt­ed and time­ly sup­port from Islet, ensur­ing a smooth jour­ney ahead with SAP S/4HANA.
