ABB Dri\u00adves employs approx\u00adi\u00admate\u00adly 1300 peo\u00adple in Fin\u00adland and approx\u00adi\u00admate\u00adly 6000 glob\u00adal\u00adly. We oper\u00adate in 80 coun\u00adtries. The Finnish Dri\u00adves unit co-oper\u00adates close\u00adly in SAP devel\u00adop\u00adment i.e. with US, Ger\u00adman and Sin\u00adga\u00adpore. I work as SAP Appli\u00adca\u00adtion Own\u00ader and are in charge of SAP oper\u00ada\u00adtions and orga\u00adniz\u00ading SAP devel\u00adop\u00adment at Dri\u00adves in Finland.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Recent\u00adly, Dri\u00adves unit and Motors and Gen\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtors unit were merged into a new Motion Busi\u00adness Unit. The fusion nat\u00adu\u00adral\u00adly serves the big pic\u00adture. The AC dri\u00adves man\u00adu\u00adfac\u00adtured by Dri\u00adves unit are used to con\u00adtrol the rota\u00adtion\u00adal speed of the elec\u00adtric motors pro\u00adduced by Motors unit which can cut the engine\u2019s pow\u00ader con\u00adsump\u00adtion by up to 50 percent.<\/p>\n

To which direc\u00adtion is your field developing?<\/strong><\/p>\nWe are liv\u00ading excit\u00ading times as elec\u00adtric\u00adi\u00adty con\u00adsump\u00adtion is increas\u00ading and yet at the same time emis\u00adsions should be cut. As much as one third of the world\u2019s elec\u00adtric\u00adi\u00adty con\u00adsump\u00adtion is spent to run elec\u00adtric motors. Huge sav\u00adings can be achieved by using AC dri\u00adves. This is a great oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adty for both ABB and the whole man\u00adu\u00adfac\u00adtur\u00ading indus\u00adtry. In 2015, ABB Dri\u00adves\u2019 AC dri\u00adve pool saved 490 TWh of elec\u00adtric\u00adi\u00adty glob\u00adal\u00adly, equiv\u00ada\u00adlent to elec\u00adtric\u00adi\u00adty con\u00adsump\u00adtion of 120 mil\u00adlion house\u00adholds and pre\u00advent\u00aded 410 mil\u00adlion tons of CO2 emis\u00adsions. This is equiv\u00ada\u00adlent to the annu\u00adal emis\u00adsions of 90 mil\u00adlion pas\u00adsen\u00adger cars.<\/p>\n

What is your organization\u2019s key mes\u00adsage to its stake\u00adhold\u00aders and customers?<\/strong><\/p>\nThe cus\u00adtomer and qual\u00adi\u00adty are at the heart of all activ\u00adi\u00adties. ABB makes huge invest\u00adments in qual\u00adi\u00adty. For exam\u00adple, employ\u00adee train\u00ading empha\u00adsizes Lean Six Sig\u00adma train\u00ading. Qual\u00adi\u00adty man\u00adage\u00adment, sys\u00adtem\u00adat\u00adic con\u00adtin\u00adu\u00adous strate\u00adgic devel\u00adop\u00adment and improve\u00adment of prod\u00aducts, ser\u00advices and process\u00ades are essen\u00adtial part of our busi\u00adness. Respon\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty is also one of the ABB-wide val\u00adues and it is strong\u00adly empha\u00adsized right from the start when a new per\u00adson starts at ABB.<\/p>\n

How does your orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion retain top tal\u00adents and what makes your orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion a great place to work?<\/strong><\/p>\nABB offers respon\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty but is also sup\u00adport\u00adive. The indus\u00adtry is inter\u00adest\u00ading and live\u00adly. There is con\u00adstant evo\u00adlu\u00adtion going on. Inter\u00adest\u00ading and chal\u00adleng\u00ading tasks can always be found in-house and there is a strong focus on improv\u00ading one\u2019s skills.<\/p>\n

What is the best part of your work?<\/strong><\/p>\nThe extent of my field makes this role inter\u00adest\u00ading. When you work with SAP, things are fluc\u00adtu\u00adat\u00ading and there are chal\u00adlenges every day. You con\u00adstant\u00adly learn new things. I have now worked for this com\u00adpa\u00adny for about 1,5 years and there is still a huge amount of new things to learn what is moti\u00advat\u00ading. Even though I am work\u00ading in IT, and what is so spe\u00adcial about it, is that the prac\u00adti\u00adcal work and pro\u00adduc\u00adtion are in the same build\u00ading hence you see in prac\u00adtice what for SAP is being devel\u00adoped. It is not all just trans\u00adac\u00adtions and cod\u00ading, but the work becomes con\u00adcrete when being close to the production.<\/p>\n

How would you describe the part\u00adner\u00adship with ISLET?<\/strong><\/p>\nThe coop\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion with ISLET has always worked well. I have been coop\u00ader\u00adat\u00ading long time with ISLET also in my pre\u00advi\u00adous role and I have always been pleased with our col\u00adlab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtion. Islet\u00adters are capa\u00adble and open-mind\u00aded peo\u00adple with whom it\u2019s easy to work together.<\/p>\n
