In our <\/span>pre\u00advi\u00adous blog post<\/a><\/strong>, we high\u00adlight\u00aded some of the most impor\u00adtant points in the tran\u00adsi\u00adtion to SAP S\/4HANA<\/strong><\/a>.<\/strong> In this post, we explore the three dif\u00adfer\u00adent tran\u00adsi\u00adtion sce\u00adnar\u00adios in greater detail and describe, in which sit\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtions they fit the best.<\/span><\/p>\n

The three dif\u00adfer\u00adent tran\u00adsi\u00adtion sce\u00adnar\u00adios to S\/4HANA are New Imple\u00admen\u00adta\u00adtion, Sys\u00adtem Con\u00adver\u00adsion and Land\u00adscape Transformation.<\/span><\/p>\n

For those orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtions who are not cur\u00adrent\u00adly run\u00adning SAP<\/a><\/strong> sys\u00adtems, the only tran\u00adsi\u00adtion sce\u00adnario to S\/4HANA is the New Imple\u00admen\u00adta\u00adtion. How\u00adev\u00ader, all three sce\u00adnar\u00adios are pos\u00adsi\u00adble for orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtions cur\u00adrent\u00adly using SAP. Over\u00adall, the future busi\u00adness needs and the state of the exist\u00ading SAP sys\u00adtem are the main dri\u00advers for the suit\u00adable tran\u00adsi\u00adtion scenario.<\/span><\/p>\n

Below, I elab\u00ado\u00adrate the dif\u00adfer\u00adent stand\u00adpoints in choos\u00ading the tran\u00adsi\u00adtion scenario.<\/span><\/p>\n

New Imple\u00admen\u00adta\u00adtion<\/h2>\n

In this sce\u00adnario, a new S\/4HANA sys\u00adtem will be installed and exist\u00ading data from pre\u00advi\u00adous sys\u00adtem will be moved into the new S\/4HANA sys\u00adtem. The pre\u00advi\u00adous sys\u00adtem can be a SAP sys\u00adtem or anoth\u00ader lega\u00adcy ERP system.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the New Imple\u00admen\u00adta\u00adtion sce\u00adnario, orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion will attain the new and sim\u00adpli\u00adfied busi\u00adness process\u00ades embed\u00added in S\/4HANA. The imple\u00admen\u00adta\u00adtion can be done by using S\/4HANA best prac\u00adtices and by uti\u00adliz\u00ading pre\u00adcon\u00adfig\u00adured and guid\u00aded process\u00ades. By using these tools, the new S\/4HANA imple\u00admen\u00adta\u00adtion can be sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant\u00adly accel\u00ader\u00adat\u00aded and rapid inno\u00adva\u00adtion of new busi\u00adness process\u00ades are enabled in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the New Imple\u00admen\u00adta\u00adtion sce\u00adnario, the solu\u00adtion can be run as a cloud ser\u00advice (pri\u00advate or pub\u00adlic cloud) or local\u00adly (on\u2009\u2013\u2009premise). More\u00adover, a hybrid solu\u00adtion between cloud and on-premise is also possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sys\u00adtem Conversion<\/h2>\n

This sce\u00adnario is suit\u00adable for orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtions that look to trans\u00adfer and con\u00advert their exist\u00ading SAP ERP sys\u00adtem to the S\/4HANA.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the Sys\u00adtem Con\u00adver\u00adsion, the exist\u00ading SAP ERP sys\u00adtem and its data is trans\u00adferred to S\/4HANA. In the begin\u00adning of this project, a cus\u00adtom code check and data cleans\u00ading will be per\u00adformed to remove unnec\u00ades\u00adsary cus\u00adtom code and obso\u00adlete data. The Sys\u00adtem Con\u00adver\u00adsion sce\u00adnario will not, how\u00adev\u00ader, allow to com\u00adbine sev\u00ader\u00adal sep\u00ada\u00adrate ERP sys\u00adtems (SAP or non-SAP) into a sin\u00adgle S\/4HANA system.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the tran\u00adsi\u00adtion, the orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion can re-eval\u00adu\u00adate their busi\u00adness process\u00ades and adapt them into the S\/4HANA sys\u00adtem in the way they see most fit. Typ\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly, this tran\u00adsi\u00adtion sce\u00adnario is favoured by orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtions that seek to trans\u00adfer an exist\u00ading SAP sys\u00adtem into the S\/4HANA main\u00adly as it is.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Sys\u00adtem Con\u00adver\u00adsion can be done in on-premise world as well as in pri\u00advate cloud but not in pub\u00adlic cloud.<\/span><\/p>\n

Land\u00adscape Transformation<\/h2>\n

This sce\u00adnario is suit\u00adable for those orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtions who wish to con\u00adsol\u00adi\u00addate their exist\u00ading sep\u00ada\u00adrate or scat\u00adtered sys\u00adtems into a sin\u00adgle S\/4HANA sys\u00adtem. This sce\u00adnario allows the tran\u00adsi\u00adtion\u00ading orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion to focus on its most vital busi\u00adness process\u00ades by enabling the migra\u00adtion of spe\u00adcif\u00adic data and appli\u00adca\u00adtions into the new system.<\/span><\/p>\n

The tran\u00adsi\u00adtion can be also phased so that the orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion is first able to focus on the strate\u00adgic and the most impor\u00adtant busi\u00adness process\u00ades. The Land\u00adscape Trans\u00adfor\u00adma\u00adtion sce\u00adnario is less often used sce\u00adnario since it is usu\u00adal\u00adly very com\u00adplex and hence SAP usu\u00adal\u00adly exe\u00adcutes the projects themselves.<\/span><\/p>\n

Land\u00adscape Trans\u00adfor\u00adma\u00adtion sce\u00adnario can be imple\u00adment\u00aded in pri\u00advate cloud, pub\u00adlic cloud, local\u00adly (on-premise) or the mix of them.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addi\u00adtion to the tran\u00adsi\u00adtion method, the plat\u00adform must be select\u00aded as well: do you want to run the new S\/4HANA in a pri\u00advate cloud, pub\u00adlic cloud, on-premise or as a com\u00adbi\u00adna\u00adtion of cloud and on-premise.<\/span><\/p>\n
